Columbus Fire Department and Ohio State University police officers were on the scene, managing the area with several cruisers and directing pedestrians away from the investigation zone. Columbus Fire reported receiving the initial emergency call at 9:56 a.m. Investigators began dismantling the perimeter in the parking lot shortly after noon, though caution tape remained around the immediate area as of mid-September 26.

This incident comes over a year after a tragic event in which a woman died from a fall during the university’s spring commencement ceremony. That case was later investigated by police and deemed an “apparent suicide.”
