YouTube introduces feature to hide popups at the end of videos for a cleaner viewing experience

YouTube Introduces ‘Hide’ Button for End Screen Popups, Enhancing User Experience
Enhanced Control Over Video End Screens
YouTube users can now enjoy a more seamless viewing experience with the introduction of a new “Hide” button for end screen popups, which appear at the conclusion of most videos. This feature comes in response to feedback from viewers who expressed a desire to dismiss these popups and maintain focus on their current content.
To remove the popups before a video ends, viewers can simply click or tap the new Hide button located in the top right corner of YouTube’s video player. However, it’s important to note that this setting applies only to the video currently being watched, requiring users to press the Hide button for each successive video.
User-Centric Enhancements on YouTube Desktop
Along with the Hide button, YouTube is implementing changes to its desktop interface. Users will no longer encounter a “Subscribe” button when hovering over a video’s watermark, as this feature was found redundant given the permanent Subscribe button below each video.
Impact on Video Metrics and Creator Tools
These updates are designed to improve user experience without significantly affecting video creators. YouTube assures that the option to hide end screens has resulted in less than a 1.5 percent decrease in views. Furthermore, the removal of the hover-to-subscribe feature, contributing to less than 0.05 percent of all channel subscriptions, is anticipated to have a negligible impact on overall subscription rates.
Despite these minor changes, video creators can still utilize end screens and watermarks as desired, ensuring flexibility in content engagement strategies.
Optimizing Viewer Engagement
The recent updates underline YouTube’s commitment to enhancing user satisfaction by minimizing interruptions and streamlining interface elements. These changes represent a step towards tailoring the platform to better suit viewer preferences while maintaining opportunities for content creators to grow their channels.
