Tennis Star Returns Following Revolutionary Breast Surgery

Oceane Dodin, a 28-year-old French tennis player, has made headlines by announcing her recent breast augmentation surgery. She claims to be the first professional tennis player to undergo this physical enhancement. Dodin reached her career-high ranking of No. 46 in 2017 and has accumulated £2.1 million in prize money over her 14-year career.
Tennis Achievements and Recent Challenges
In her tennis career, Dodin’s notable achievements include:
- Winning a WTA title in Canada in 2016.
- Securing 17 ITF tournament victories.
- Reaching the fourth round at the Australian Open last year, where she faced and lost to Zheng Qinwen.
However, Dodin faced significant challenges recently. She spent nine months away from the sport due to a persistent ear issue that caused vertigo. During this hiatus, she decided to proceed with breast augmentation, returning to practice in April.
Reflections on Her Decision
In an interview with RMC Sport, Dodin explained her choice. She stated, “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.” Considering her long recovery from surgery, she saw this as the ideal time to enhance her appearance. “If I’m going to stop for six months, I might as well do what I want,” she added.
Despite concerns from others about the impact of surgery on her performance, Dodin reported minimal issues during play. She remarked, “They’re not small, but that doesn’t bother me when I play. There are adapted bras.” She highlighted the example of fellow player Simona Halep, who underwent breast reduction surgery as a junior, noting that her situation was quite different.
Return to Tennis
Dodin returned to competitive play in late September, making it to the quarter-finals of an ITF event in Reims. Although her ranking has dropped to No. 363 due to her absence, she is committed to working her way back up the standings.
Social Media Presence
Outside of her tennis career, Dodin has garnered a substantial following on social media, boasting nearly 56,000 followers on Instagram. This presence helps to connect with her fans and share her journey as she navigates her professional comeback.
