- Margot Robbie, famed for her role in “Barbie,” remains attached to the project.
- Veteran screenwriter Ted Elliott is contributing to the current script.

Nicolas Cage Hints at ‘National Treasure 3’
Bruckheimer also addressed the long-awaited “National Treasure 3,” indicating that progress is being made. He confirmed that original director Jon Turteltaub and star Nicolas Cage are expected to return. Bruckheimer expressed optimism about the continuation of the franchise despite the 2022 Disney+ series, “National Treasure: Edge of History.”
Current Status of Hollywood Franchises
Bruckheimer discussed the challenges of keeping franchises like “Pirates” and “National Treasure” alive. Notably, it has been eight years since the last “Pirates” movie, “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” was released. He acknowledged the difficulties in finding the right creative approach for the “Pirates” series, describing it as one of the more challenging projects he has tackled.
In addition to these films, Bruckheimer is exploring ideas for sequels to both the “F1” film and the classic “Days of Thunder,” although no writers have been officially hired yet for these projects.
As he continues to be involved in these major franchises, Bruckheimer remains dedicated to his craft. He has stated that he doesn’t see retirement in his near future, saying, “I hate golf; I can’t spend four hours doing something and not making a movie.”
