Eagles’ Brown Clarifies Post Wasn’t About Team or Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown addressed recent frustrations following the team’s 31-25 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In a social media post, Brown clarified that his remarks were not directed at teammates, including quarterback Jalen Hurts.

A.J. Brown Takes Responsibility for Frustrations

After the game, Brown reflected on his performance, which included just two catches for 7 yards on nine targets. He stated that he let his frustrations “boil over” and wants the ball during critical moments of the game. Currently, he has 14 receptions for 151 yards and one touchdown this season, averaging only 10.8 yards per catch, significantly below his career average of 15.6 yards.

Team Struggles Highlighted

The Eagles are currently 4-0 but rank 31st in the league for passing yards per game, averaging just 138 yards. Brown expressed his desire to contribute more to the team’s passing game, stating:

  • “I see that we’re struggling and I’m a guy that wants the ball in those times when we can’t find a way.”
  • “When the game’s on the line, give the ball to me.”
  • “I want that pressure; I put it on myself, and I work hard for it.”

Communication with Jalen Hurts

Brown emphasized that he and Hurts often discuss strategies and improvements during practice rather than in the heat of the game. He described his sideline demeanor as reserved, rebutting claims that he was demanding more targets. “I’m probably the quietest one on the sideline,” he said. “I try to let the game come to me.”

Brown and Hurts: A Solid Relationship

Hurts responded positively regarding his relationship with Brown, noting their shared passion for football and their commitment to improving. This camaraderie dates back to their days before joining the Eagles when Hurts attempted to recruit Brown to Alabama.

Looking Forward

Despite his recent frustrations, Brown reaffirmed his commitment to Philadelphia, saying, “Absolutely, this is home. Unfortunately, I did it to myself. But this is my home. I love it here.” He is eager to turn things around and help the team achieve greatness moving forward.
