MLB Releases Blue Jays ALDS Broadcast Schedule for Opening Two Games

The Toronto Blue Jays are set to begin their postseason journey with an afternoon game in the American League Division Series (ALDS). Major League Baseball (MLB) has confirmed the broadcast schedule for the opening two games.
ALDS Game Schedule for the Blue Jays
The Blue Jays will play their first playoff game this Saturday. The timing is contingent on the outcome of the AL Wild Card Series between Boston and New York. If Boston defeats the Yankees, Toronto will face the Red Sox at 1:08 p.m. ET. Alternatively, if New York advances, the game against the Yankees will start at 4:08 p.m. ET.
Game 2 Details
Regardless of the first game’s opponent, the second game is scheduled for Sunday at 4:08 p.m. ET. As of now, Boston is leading New York 1-0 in their best-of-three series.
Blue Jays’ Path to the Division Series
The Toronto Blue Jays secured their place in the ALDS by clinching the top seed in the American League with a decisive 13-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on the last day of the regular season.
Bo Bichette’s Status
The health of shortstop Bo Bichette remains uncertain as the series approaches. Blue Jays manager John Schneider mentioned that he would receive updates about Bichette’s condition by Friday. Bichette has been sidelined for three weeks due to a left knee sprain.
- Bichette’s stats:
- 181 hits (tied for second in MLB)
- .311 batting average (tied for second in MLB)
- 18 home runs
- 94 runs batted in
Schneider expressed optimism about Bichette’s recovery, highlighting his determination to defy expectations. If Bichette is cleared to play, his return would be welcomed by the team. Otherwise, the focus will be on advancing in the playoffs to potentially bring him back for a later round.
ALDS Roster Announcement
The Blue Jays are scheduled to announce their 26-man roster for the ALDS on Saturday morning. Other players with uncertain statuses include right-hander Chris Bassitt, who is dealing with a back issue, and infielder Ty France, who has an oblique injury. Meanwhile, right-hander Jose Berrios will not be part of the roster as he has not resumed throwing following his placement on the injured list last Thursday.
Preparation for the Series
During the five-day hiatus before Game 1, the Blue Jays will conduct workouts and intrasquad scrimmages at Rogers Centre. This preparation is expected to be beneficial for the team. Infielder Ernie Clement acknowledged the importance of utilizing this time effectively.
