Kim Jong Un Sends Warm Birthday Wishes to Putin, Praising Russia’s Role in a “New Multipolar World”

Kim Jong Un Celebrates Putin’s 73rd Birthday with a Message of Friendship
In a gesture highlighting the strengthening ties between Moscow and Pyongyang, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent a heartfelt message to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of his 73rd birthday on October 7.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim addressed his Russian counterpart saying:
“My dear comrade, Vladimir Putin, I extend to you my warmest and most sincere congratulations on your birthday.”
Kim praised Putin’s leadership for guiding Russia through turbulent global challenges and for what he described as building a “new multipolar world order.”
North Korea Praises Russia’s Leadership and Global Influence
In his message, Kim lauded Putin’s “wise leadership and national devotion,” asserting that Russia has emerged as a powerful global nation with a strong political system and firm state authority.
He went on to say that the remarkable achievements in safeguarding Russia’s dignity and core interests are the result of Putin’s “outstanding leadership and steady governance.”
Kim also reaffirmed that the friendship between North Korea and Russia will remain eternal, emphasizing that the two nations “will always stand together.”
This renewed closeness comes amid growing cooperation between the two countries — a partnership that has notably deepened over the past two years as Russia faces increasing Western isolation due to the war in Ukraine.
Strengthening Alliance and Defying Western Pressure
Kim Jong Un expressed confidence that the alliance between Moscow and Pyongyang will continue to play an important role in shaping a “just and multipolar global system.”
He further pledged North Korea’s full support for Russia’s efforts to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, signaling continued solidarity in the face of Western criticism.
Western nations have accused Pyongyang of supplying Russia with munitions and military equipment in exchange for economic and technological assistance — allegations both sides deny.
Putin’s 73rd Birthday: A Symbolic Moment for Moscow
As President Vladimir Putin marks his 73rd birthday, he is expected to hold a working meeting with the Russian Security Council’s permanent members, according to Kremlin sources.
This year’s celebration comes at a symbolic time for Moscow, as Russia continues to expand its global influence and deepen strategic partnerships across Asia, particularly with North Korea.
The Kremlin describes the relationship between the two countries as “a special strategic partnership,” reflecting the shared geopolitical interests and mutual support that have grown stronger amid global tensions.
