Lawsuit Claims Teen Died in Tesla Cybertruck Fire

A lawsuit has been filed against Tesla concerning a tragic incident in which three college students died in a Cybertruck fire in California. The victims, Krysta Tsukahara, 19, Jack Nelson, 20, and Soren Dixon, 19, were involved in a crash on November 27, 2022. The lawsuit claims that due to the vehicle’s design, they were unable to escape as flames engulfed the Cybertruck.
Lawsuit Details
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when the Tesla Cybertruck crashed into a tree, leading to a fire. Krysta Tsukahara and Jack Nelson, seated in the rear, tragically lost their lives. The driver, Soren Dixon, also perished in the accident, while a fourth passenger, Jordan Miller, managed to escape thanks to a passerby who broke the windscreen.
Claims of Design Flaws
According to the complaint filed in Alameda County Superior Court, the electronic door release system failed after the vehicle lost power, trapping the occupants inside. Krysta’s parents, Carl and Noelle Tsukahara, allege that the emergency manual interior door release is in a difficult-to-access location, exacerbating the situation.

Attorney’s Statement
The family’s attorney, Roger Dreyer, expressed his outrage, stating, “It’s just a horror story. Tesla knows that it’s happened and that it’s going to happen.” He emphasized that the vehicle’s design was unsafe, contributing to the tragedy.
Contributing Factors
The California Highway Patrol indicated that impaired driving and speeding played roles in the crash. Reports mentioned the presence of cocaine and alcohol in the bloodstreams of those involved. However, the Tsukahara family’s legal team insists that the vehicle’s design is largely to blame.
Dreyer further asserted, “This vehicle absolutely should not have entombed these individuals and my clients’ daughter. It’s our way of holding the wrongdoer accountable and correcting bad conduct.”
Additional Notes
The parents of Jack Nelson described the four friends as outstanding individuals destined to make positive impacts in their communities. As investigations continue and the court case unfolds, Tesla has yet to respond to requests for comments regarding the allegations in the lawsuit.
