Ravens Urged by Todd Monken to Increase Running Game

Interestingly, the Ravens boast the league’s best average of 6.2 yards per carry. However, Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken has emphasized the need for the team to refocus on their running game. “It can start by calling it more often and stacking plays,” he noted, highlighting that quick scores have hindered their ability to maintain a consistent rushing attack.

Head Coach John Harbaugh expressed dissatisfaction with the offensive play calls during their Week 4 game against the Chiefs. Although they began strong with an opening touchdown, the subsequent drives ended in an interception, a punt, a fourth-down stop, and a fumble.

In response to Harbaugh’s comments, Monken stated he was not surprised by the feedback, indicating that such matters had already been under discussion within the coaching staff. “You’ve got to look at what you do,” he remarked, addressing the need for accountability and improvement.

Derrick Henry echoed the sentiments of his coach and coordinator. He emphasized the importance of collaboration within the running game, stating, “I’m focusing on doing my job better than I have done the last four weeks. Dominate the line of scrimmage. Execution is the big thing.”
