Fresno Fair Enhances Safety with New Clear Bag Policy Debut

The Big Fresno Fair has introduced a new clear bag policy for its annual event, emphasizing enhanced safety for all attendees. This year’s fair runs for 12 days and aims to ensure a safe environment through clear regulations and vigilant security measures.

Safety Measures at the Big Fresno Fair

The safety of visitors is a top concern at this year’s fair. Fresno Police and a dedicated private security team ensure high levels of protection throughout the event. Lt. Anthony Dewall of the Fresno Police stated that the fair is one of the safest places in the city.

  • Police presence at all four main entrances.
  • Officers patrolling both on the ground and in the air.
  • Advanced surveillance capabilities including artificial intelligence monitoring.

Clear Bag Policy Implementation

This year marks the inaugural implementation of the clear bag policy at the Big Fresno Fair. This decision was made in line with safety practices at other local venues, including:

  • Saroyan Theatre
  • Fresno State football games
  • Grizzlies Stadium

According to Taylor Collins, the Special Event and Program Coordinator, the clear bag policy aims to streamline security checks and improve crowd management. Denise Tomlinson, a Fresno County resident, expressed her approval, noting that clear bags simplify the process.

Bag Requirements

The policy specifies different requirements for bags:

  • Permissible non-clear bags: smaller than 4.5″ x 6.5″ x 2″.
  • Acceptable clear bags: up to 12″ x 6″ x 12″.
  • Exceptions: diaper bags, medical bags, and student backpacks during education-focused days.

Fairgoers have expressed that the measure is essential for safety in current times. Many events have already adopted similar policies, making attendees feel more at ease during their visits.

Youth Admission Policy

In addition to the clear bag policy, the Big Fresno Fair is enforcing a Youth Admission Policy. On Fridays and Saturdays after 7 p.m., attendees under 18 must be accompanied by an adult aged 21 or older. This policy is designed to further enhance safety for younger guests.
