The Fatherland Front received 672 billion VND to support people after storm Bualoi.

As of October 2, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has received significant support totaling 672 billion VND aimed at aiding communities affected by Typhoon Bualoi. The financial contributions have been channeled through various banking accounts established specifically for this purpose.

Distribution of Funds for Typhoon Relief

The funds pledged so far exclude direct cash donations made during the fundraising events. In the first wave of aid distribution, 260 billion VND is allocated to the most heavily impacted provinces. These include:

  • Nghệ An, Hà Tĩnh, and Quảng Trị: 30 billion VND each
  • Ninh Bình and Thanh Hóa: 20 billion VND each
  • Lào Cai, Phú Thọ, and Tuyên Quang: 15 billion VND each
  • Other provinces: 10 billion VND each

Impact of Typhoon Bualoi

Chairman Đỗ Văn Chiến of the Vietnam Fatherland Front reported the devastating toll of Typhoon Bualoi, which has resulted in:

  • 36 confirmed deaths
  • 21 individuals missing
  • 147 injuries
  • Approximately 160,000 collapsed homes
  • Nearly 155,000 houses damaged
  • Over 51,000 hectares of crops and plants affected
  • 13,400 hectares of aquaculture harmed

The preliminary damage estimate across various provinces stands at around 11,000 billion VND.

Call for Further Support

Given the limitations of the national budget and the extensive recovery needs, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has made an urgent appeal for assistance. They are urging citizens both domestically and abroad, as well as organizations and businesses, to contribute both financially and morally to support the disaster-stricken populations.

Specific Contribution Guidelines

The appeal suggests that government officials, civil servants, and military personnel donate at least one day’s salary, while other workers contribute an equivalent of one day’s income. Additionally, youth members and families earning above a certain threshold are encouraged to save and contribute a minimum of 50,000 VND.

Chairman Đỗ Văn Chiến emphasized that every contribution, no matter the size, serves as a vital source of encouragement and will play a crucial role in helping the nation recover from this disaster.

Fund Management

To facilitate donation processes, the Central Steering Committee has established two groups of accounts across four banks: Vietcombank, VietinBank, Agribank, and BIDV. One account group is available for those wishing to publicize their contributions, while the other maintains privacy unless requested otherwise.

This collaborative effort reflects the unity of the nation in overcoming the challenges posed by Typhoon Bualoi.
