Finneas has withdrawn from Ed Sheeran's Loop tour, pulling out of six South American dates in late November and early December. He made the move after Macklemore was removed from the run over pro-Palestinian comments.
Six South American dates
Finneas said on social media that he had decided to step away from the upcoming dates and wrote, "Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed". He also said, "I have decided to withdraw from my upcoming tour dates with Ed Sheeran. I stand with Palestine and its people."
The immediate effect is practical, not abstract: one of the tour's openers has now exited six scheduled South American shows before the first of those dates arrives. Finneas joins Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham and Irish band Beoga in dropping out of the Loop tour, which narrows the support lineup around Ed Sheeran as the late-November and early-December run approaches.

Aaron Rowe and Beoga had already said they were leaving in solidarity with Macklemore. Rowe wrote, "As Irish people, we know all too well about genocide, forced famine and violent occupation," and added, "I cannot stand by and allow billionaires to use their position of power to silence the rightful voices of those who speak up against Israeli genocide and who highlight the savage murder of children." He finished with, "Free Palestine."
Rowe also said, "I would lose all respect for myself to carry on as normal," and, "I need to be true to myself and my ancestors who resisted colonisation, and fought for a freedom that I enjoy today in Ireland." Beoga's departure left the tour with one more gap to fill even before Finneas followed.
Macklemore and Robert Kraft
Macklemore was dismissed from the Loop tour earlier this month after forceful "free Palestine" comments at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on September 4 and 5. On Monday, he said Robert Kraft had orchestrated his departure by rallying other stadium owners to ban him for speaking out. Ed Sheeran said the dismissal was not his decision and that he tried to intervene.
Lukas Graham dropped off minutes after Finneas posted his statement, writing, "We should be able to speak about war, about civilians being killed, about children who deserve to grow up. Wherever they live. Whatever flag flies over them," and, "I can't put these words out into the world and carry on with this tour as things stand." They added, "We're withdrawing from the remaining dates."
For Ed Sheeran, the unresolved issue is roster repair: the openers have kept leaving, but there has been no announced replacement plan for the remaining Loop tour dates. That leaves the show schedule intact in name, while the stage picture around it keeps shrinking.
